Alan Paull has been involved in data collection and data management in the UK education and training sectors for the past 20 years. From 1984 to 1990 he worked at the Polytechnics Central Admissions System and had responsibility for data collection from polytechnics and colleges throughout the UK, and for publishing materials from the data, in both electronic and paper formats. During this time he was involved in various technical data management projects, working closely with public and private sector organisations handling learning opportunities data. Co-operation and co-ordination across different organisations has always been a hallmark of his approach.

In partnership with his wife, Charlie, Alan has now started his own company, APS Ltd, specialising in electronic publishing services and project management, with particular emphasis on data management.

Alan is also a designer (and player) of board games. His published games include "Siege", "City of Sorcerers", "Thunderin' Guns" and "Starship Tycoons".
